Snap Fitness

Snap Fitness is a global fitness brand that was founded in North America back in 2003. There are currently more than 200 Snap Fitness gyms located across Australia and more than 2,000 around the world. As a member, you’re able to access the entire network of gyms including those located overseas.
Snap Fitness provides smaller, affordable gyms with a basic range of good quality equipment that you can access 24/7. Their main point of difference from other similar gyms like Anytime Fitness, Jetts, Plus Fitness, and Zap Fitness is their focus on heart rate training. They believe that using their MyZone powered wearable heart rate monitors, which are an additional cost, makes your training more effective and helps you get fitter faster.
If you have basic training needs and want to focus on your cardio fitness, then Snap Fitness could be a good option. The ability to train at any time of the day or night and to do it at any of their locations around the world will appeal to people who want flexibility in their gym membership. If you’re looking for access to more specialised training equipment or a variety of group training classes, then you’d be better off looking at other options. You can find other gyms near you by visiting our search page and entering your address. You can even filter by the types of facilities and services you want in your new gym.
Snap Fitness operates under a franchise model which means each location is individually owned. Whilst many things are common across all clubs, you will find some small differences including membership fees. Owners can also heavily influence the atmosphere and general environment at each location. It’s therefore important to realise that a good or bad experience at one location isn’t always representative of all Snap Fitness clubs.
Facilities and Services
All Snap Fitness locations provide a variety of equipment to suit most basic training styles and needs. Cardio zones have a mix of equipment like cross-trainers, bikes, rowers, steppers and treadmills. There are free-weights with dumbbells, barbells and various benches if you’re looking to do strength training. You’ll also find a variety of pin-loaded weight machines that are great for beginner to intermediate level weight training. Open areas for stretching and bodyweight exercises are also available. Snap Fitness clubs also provide basic functional training equipment.
There are some limited options for group training classes at some Snap Fitness locations. Check your local club to see if they provide any classes and what the cost is. If group training classes are an important part of your training plan, then you’ll find more options at the bigger, more expensive health clubs like Fitness First, Fernwood, Genesis, Goodlife or Virgin Active.
For an additional cost on top of your membership, you can access personal training services. Each Snap Fitness club have their own Personal Trainers (PT) operating out of the facility and each PT can specialise in different areas. If using a PT is going to be a core part of your training, it’s best to do some research to see if the PT’s operating out of your preferred club meet your specific requirements. If you’re unsure, consider a short term contract or free trial period while you take an initial session with your chosen PT. Once you’re comfortable you’ve found the right one, then you can lock yourself into a longer contract at cheaper weekly rates.
Snap Fitness gyms provide water fountains, sanitising wipes and toilets. You’ll also find change rooms and private shower facilities at most locations which make it easy to train either before work, after work or during a lunch break.
Opening Hours
Snap Fitness is open for you to train 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, you will need to check with your local club if you require support as the staffed hours for each club can be different and in many cases, quite limited. You will often see personal trainers around the gym with their clients, even outside of staffed hours. If you have an urgent question when there are no staff present, you can always ask them. Access to the gym outside of staffed hours is via a security tag or card and there are security cameras and emergency numbers to call in case of an emergency.
Age Restrictions
Snap Fitness officially accepts members from 14 years of age but each location has the discretion to increase the minimum age if they choose. All members under the age of 18 must have the signature of their parent or guardian and can only access the club during staffed hours. Younger members can find this a challenge as Snap Fitness staffed hours are quite restricted compared to some other gyms. You will often find limited hours on Friday nights and on weekends. You will probably find less restrictive options (with a lower joining age and increased access) at other gyms like Jetts. For a more comprehensive list of age restrictions for the major gym brands in Australia, read our article on the minimum age to join a gym.
Snap Fitness Pricing
Snap Fitness provides a number of affordable membership options. There is a month-by-month membership that gives you flexibility by not locking you into a long-term contract. This is a great option if you’re trialling the gym to see if it’s the right one for you. There are also 3, 6 and 12-month contract options with the longer contracts being the most affordable on a per week basis. Membership at Snap Fitness starts from as low as $12.95 per week but can vary by club and membership type.
When you join Snap Fitness, you will usually be required to pay a joining fee and a Global Access Card fee. Joining fees can vary by location so remember to check with your local club before making your decision. Also, look out for special offers as joining fees can often be waived or reduced. You can also find all the latest deals on our Latest Offers page.
3-7 day free trials are available and vary by location.

Poor customer service stops me going back
The gym is fine. The woman on the desk isnt. An agressive and rude bully. How unfortunate. We (3 of us) donated our fees for 4 months, (we were no longer interested nor attending yet knew the business would have struggled during covid) , but she couldn't even raise a thank you and instead demanded more payments after ceasing or membership. Ask they had to do was see that we hadn't attended. Childishly aggresive she left us (i had friends listening in too) never wanting to go there again. And sorry, but the 'classes'i had signed up for at first were really just non-events. A 'ttrainer'setting 3 basic exercises in a boring rotation for only 20mins. So we didn't bother. It's great that the gym was really quiet most of the time. And the other staff were fine.
Best gym in the VS area!!
Have been a member for 3 years. Lovely staff who are committed to helping members both in their training and wellbeing, with genuine conversations always being had. Equipment and bathrooms are always clean.
